Three Easy Steps to Lower Porsche Cayman Insurance Rates
If comparing car insurance was easy, most of us would do it more often. But the premiums we pay always seem to be too high and most of use would rather get a tooth pulled. You might feel the same pain when having to pay the bill on your Porsche Cayman.
Step One: Compare Multiple Rates
If you haven't shopped for car insurance for awhile you might remember the days when the only option was to visit a local insurance agent. But you can now comparison shop and buy direct online!
You can now shop all the best car insurance companies and compare rates for a Porsche Cayman and you don't even have to visit each individual website!

Read this (it's important)! When doing any car insurance quote to compare rates to either your existing policy or to other quotes, it's important to use identical coverages on all quotes. Otherwise you will not be able to accurately determine which company has the lowest rate for your Cayman.
Step Two: Tried and True Ways to Save on Cayman Insurance
After completing step one above, you can now learn some of the other ways to slash your Cayman insurance costs.
- Cheap insurance rates and high performance don't usually mix. If low rates are your goal, the Porsche Cayman is probably not the best vehicle due to it's above average performance.
- If you're not sure what your credit rating is, check it now. Car insurance companies use your credit score to determine the rates you pay, so the better your credit, the less you will pay.
- The Cayman would be considered a luxury vehicle, and repair costs are generally higher for more expensive vehicles. This increased cost is passed on to you through a higher insurance cost.
- You can save money on your physical damage coverage (comprehensive and collision) by increasing your deductibles. Higher deductibles mean you are willing to pay more before the insurance company covers a claim.
- If a quick quarter mile is your goal, the Cayman will answer the call. But if cheap insurance rates are your goal, then you might want to consider trading down to a lower performance vehicle.
- Smaller claims that hardly exceed your deductible are better off not being filed with your insurance company. Policyholders with no claims enjoy lower rates than those who frequently file claims.
- Car insurance disounts for senior citizens are often offered by companies as well as discounts for belonging to a professional organization.
- Speeding not only costs you a fine, a single ticket will raise your car insurance rates for up to three years. Slow down and be a safe driver and you'll pay lower rates.
- If your teen driver has completed a driver's education class in school, check to see if your insurance company offers any discounts for this.
- Never allow one policy to expire without having a new policy effective the same date. This causes a lapse in coverage and if you don't have insurance for any length of time, your next policy will cost you more.
- Most Porsche vehicles come with standard safety features such as air bags and passive restraints, and those will help keep your insurance costs down.
- If your Cayman ranks on the list of vehicles that are frequently stolen, that can result in a higher rating class and a more expensive rate.
- If your insurance company allows driver-specific car rating, you can save money by rating any teenage drivers on low profile vehicles with either no physical damage coverage or very high deductibles.
- If you are a renter rather than a homeowner, you might pay a little more to insure your car. Owning a home takes financial repsonsibility and insurance companies reward those policy holders.
Step Three: Choose the Right Company for You
Knowing which company to insure your Cayman with is more than just choosing the lowest rate. You also need to be ready to put a down payment on your policy and make sure you have all the proper coverages in place.
Car insurance policies don't have to be cancelled at the renewal date, but just be sure the new policy starts the same day you cancel your old policy. This avoids any gaps in coverage between policies.
Before you drive your Porsche Cayman home, make sure you have a current car insurance policy in force. Coverage will extend to the new purchase from your policy, but if you don't have a policy then you have no protection. Coverage that extends from an existing policy is only as good as your current coverage. So if you don't carry full coverage on any vehicles, you won't have it on your new Cayman.
Once you have purchased your policy, print out the insurance card that must go in your vehicle. This card fulfills the state law requiring you to prove financial responsibility. If you have received a DUI, reckless driving citation or caused an accident without insurance, you may be required to file an SR-22 with your state DMV. Make sure your new company is aware of the SR-22 filing requirement.
